Mission statement from The Old Schoolhouse magazine
This mission statement is included in TOS Writer's Guidelines.
The mission of TOS Magazine is to encourage and support Christian homeschooling families and to evangelize non-Christian homeschooling families.
Any opinions?
I assume you have a problem with it?? Honestly, I wouldn't have given it a second thought.
ReplyDeleteYou don't find it odd that certain families are offered support and encouragement and others are offered God?
ReplyDeleteSomehow I knew you would make a point - LOL! Yeah, you're right.
ReplyDeleteI subscribed to the magazine and I have to say I'm not too impressed. The first issue was a real disappointment anyhow. I haven't had time to look through the new one yet.
You've made remarks before about religion. Do you mind me asking if you are a Christian? I can't tell if you are or not - or if you just have some issuses with organized religion per se. Just curious - ignore that if you wish :)
I don't mind the question at all. :) I am Agnostic. Here's the quick definition of that- One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.
ReplyDeleteOne who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism.
I was raised Southern Baptist and was educated in the church school my father helped build. BUT, I am a very factual person. I *need* facts and logic. I'm not so great at faith.
My husband is a Baptist Christian as are two of my boys. One of my boys is Atheist and another is far too young to choose.
I know what you mean about TOS magazine. There really isn't much in it about homeschooling.... Well, other than a lot of homeschooling product advertisements. May I suggest Home Education magazine? It's actually about homeschooling! On their website you are able to review past issues and even read some articles. I highly recommend them. :)
Thanks for answering. A Baptist and an agnostic - I bet that has been interesting ;-)
ReplyDeleteI will check out the Home Education magazine - thanks!
Actually, we find it to be pretty easy. :) We simply respect each other's choice. It's really as easy as that. ;)
