statement of faith
Aack! If I see one more "statement of faith" I'm gonna scream!
I have been trying to find a homeschool group.
Seems like it should be an easy thing to do.
Locally there are about half a dozen homeschool groups.
But, they all have a "statement of faith"!
Now, don't get me wrong. I dig religion. I believe it is everyone's most intimate choice.
But, I'm looking for a HOMESCHOOL group! Not a Bible study group.
I'm teaching my children so that they may be well educated,
not raising a group of preachers!
I found a great group, very active, loads of things to do.
They sent me a "statement of faith" (sof) and an application to join the group.
Okay, no problem.
I agree with everything on their sof.
But, on their application it requires the name of the church you attend.
Well, I don't attend a public church.
I prefer to read the Bible in my own home.
Well, after a board meeting the homeschool group decided not to accept my family into their group.
Why? Because we don't "go" to church.
Aaaaarrrrggggghhhhh!
I find it very strange that I am being judged this way.
I mean, this is a group that does not believe in *public* school, they choose to educate their children at home.
But, they require that my family attend a *public* church!
I guess it's not possible that I am educating myself on the Bible at home, huh?
What a pitty and it's totally their loss. But it never feels good to be rejected and I'm so sorry they decided to be so selective. They will likely nick pick themselves into nonexistance.
ReplyDeleteLOL, yeah those people were um.... how do I say this nicely.... snobs. I have a feeling I would have left the group soon after joining if they had let me.
