Musings on school, diplomas, and the point
So, we all school our children.

ed·u·ca·tion

How do we prove all this education?
(Because in our society we do have to prove things. Remember, we are all liars until we prove otherwise. )
Well, we prove this with a diploma.
di·plo·ma
1. a document given by an educational institution conferring a degree on a person or certifying that the person has satisfactorily completed a course of study.
2. a document conferring some honor, privilege, or power.
stud·y – application of the mind to the acquisition of knowledge, as by reading, investigation, or reflection
pow·er
ability to do or act; capability of doing or accomplishing something.
What is that something we all hope to give our children the power to accomplish? Well, I think that's an answer that is very personal and varied. Above all, I want my children to have love and happiness. But, in the context of education and it's purpose, I believe I agree with Mr. Webster. Please take note of the fact that Mr. Webster doesn't say an education means everyone knows the exact same thing. He actually focuses on the important issues.
